The Blu electronic cigarette review was undertaken by two members  of our team over a two month period. The results were very good.

Cons: Battery seems it could be better but the portable charge pack and extra battery make up for it. Vapor isn’t always consistent (removing foil helps)

Cartridge & Taste

With 5 flavors to choose from you can change with you taste buds. Choose from Magnificent Menthol, Classic Tobacco, Vivid Vanilla, Cherry Crush, and Java Jolt. We particularly enjoyed the mint and menthol although the other flavors aren’t that bad either. The foil seal that covers the cartridge keeps things fresh but can limit the amount of vapor if not fully broken. We did experiment and removed the foil completely from the canister which seemed to help. We found the liquid dried out fairly quickly. So once you use a filter it’s best to keep it on the atomizer. You’ll figure out when the liquid is running out. The spongy packing that absorbs and holds the liquid will start to burn a little under the heat of the atomizer. This leaves a bit of an unpleasant taste in your mouth but quickly goes away with a replacement.

Back splashes are kept to a low. There are times where the liquid jumps out of the cartridge but we’ve found accounts of this few and far between

Vapor Production & Pull

Easier than a cigarette, the pull is fairly vented. There are four breather holes located on the atomizer which allows the adequate flow. If you’re a fast smoker, fast pulls will not product much vapor but take a steady puff and you’ll be satisfied after you see you’ve produced a pretty nice vapor cloud. The vapor in general is long lasting, with no foul taste and is perfect for blowing smoke rings!

BATTERY PERFORMANCE & CHARGING

Blu cigs ship with two batteries so you can always have one charged on standby. The weight is fairly light for a battery and multiple charging options give you the freedom to charge them in multiple situations. The power package consists of a wall, USB, and pack charger.

The wall charger uses the USB cable and USB stick to deliver the charge. Unfortunately it appears the charger is only good for the US so you’ll need an adapter to make it work in other socket forms (if you need it). Given our situation we never used the wall charger.

The other two power options worked like a charm. We found much convenience in the USB stick charger It conveniently  fit right on the side of our computers while we were at work. And while out at lunch the Blu electronic cigarette pack gave us options on the go.

The actual attaching of the battery to the chargers was very simple. USB chargers had a good thread on the battery so it caught immediately to the USB stick. The pack charger was a little more tricky. As soon as the battery hits the docking station in the battery pack, it starts going a little wild. The LED begins flashing in your face which got a little annoying since the first time we didn’t quite have the hang of it. Once it connects charging commences are you wait until the light on the side of the pack extinguishes.

One thing you have to pay attention to is the charge. Once light goes out on the charge pack, remove the battery as soon as you can. If you don’t you’ll find either 1) The battery doesn’t last too long or 2) It will be dead. There is a safety discharge feature built into the pack. Meaning, if the battery is fully charged, energy will be drained away from the battery.

Overall great charging options that will never leave you low and dry.

Atomizer

Blu Cigs comes with two atomizers which in our case proved to work out well. This was the first starter kit for my friends and I have to agree that the instructions were a little obscure. The Blu electronic cigarette review was the first kit he analyzed. During the setup he ended up frying the atomizer. Atomizer Blu Cigs

We found the atomizers of good quality. The atomizer Blu Cigs offers has four small passages around the base giving easy pulls and crisp ventilation.

We’ve come across a couple of reports of metallic after tastes. If you encounter this this problem is easily fixed by immersing the atomizer in some rubbing alcohol. Leave it sit there for a couple of hours and let it dry. All the metallic tastes will disappear. You should also use this method if your atomizer is  clogged or dirty from pocket lint etc.

You may also encounter a “burnt” taste from time to time. Don’t worry though, the cartridge is most likely dry, just pop on a new one on and let it soak for a minute or two.

On a final atomizer note, you don’t need to prime the atomizer too much to get it heated. In general the second pull will produce a good plummet of vapor.

Blu Cigs Social Pull

The design is without a doubt one of the sharpest looking in the industry. Blu starter kits come with in color options of white or black. On a preference note, we’re all for the black. The black and Blu LED compliment each other quite well. Because this product is fairly new, the Blu LED provides another advantage to electronic smokers. When out and about in public, and smoking in places where cigarettes are banned the Blu LED makes people that will want to tell you to “put out your cigarette” hesitant. Other brands that have the red LED closely resemble traditional cigarettes so you can expect smoking advocates to approach you.

We’ve actually found the Blu led strikes up quite a few conversations giving social advantages to both those who are alone or with others. Regardless, you’ll get plenty of attention and looks.

The pack had been designed very well. Although it is a little bulky and slightly heavier than a regular pack of cigarettes it protects your electronic cigarette and accessories. It also has a cool blu light on the side which one of our team members has found particularly useful for finding the keyhole on his front door when coming home at night.

A big drawback from the pack itself is one of the cigarette holders. If the atomizer and filter are not in place and you set the battery in it, the hole is deep enough that the better will get stuck in it. Fishing it out can be a real pain. The best way to remove it is to close the pack and bang it on a moderately hard surface. The blow will force it to the surface. My couch worked pretty well for that purpose.

Customer Service

Customer service plays and important role for any product you buy. If your product is damaged you want to send it back and have the company respond. The inconvenience of having this happen is already a burden so stating the problem and having a quick resolution is key. We’ve actually did a few test calls on the product we purchased. Customer service was very friendly, efficient and I even managed to make the service representative laugh at a lame crack I made about my smoking habits. Everything went as planned, two thumbs up for Blu!

You can contact them through email or by phone. Response times vary on the email but I received my response within the first 4 hours. Not bad considering the amount of clients they have.

On a negative side their booming business has at times left them dry on stock. While they’re replenishing you can experience delays. Knowing the company, I’m sure they are already working on ways to stop this from happening in the future.
