E Cig Syringe Refills

If you use an e cig that gives you easy access to the filter liquid source, use the e cig syringe refill method to recharge the cartridge. There are many e liquid products out there that use eye droppers and funky nozzles to assist you refilling your cartridges, but I’ve found you can still spill quite a bit of liquid.

The e cig syringe method is really easy to use and you probably already have a good idea on how to do it. However, there are a couple of things you should know before you go and grab a pack of syringes.

Where to buy a Syringe for my E cig

You can get syringes at just about any pharmacy. Make sure the needle isn’t too thick or too small. If the syringe is too small it can take a lot of pressure and time to get the liquid out. On the other hand, your e cig syringe shouldn’t be so large that it’s clumsy making it harder to control. Instead get a mid sized needle, I find these work the best.

Filling with the E Cig Syringe

It only takes few drops to top up the cartridge. You should be careful not to overfill the cartridge or you could have another problem on your hand. Overfilling can flood the atomizer. Most follow a similar setup, though you’ll find this setup most common with 3 piece electronic cigarette instead of a two piece design.

Grab your e cig syringe and take a small amount of liquid from your bottle. It’s also worth mentioning you should be using a different syringe for each flavor so you don’t mix them up. Do not insert the needle into the spongy material, instead slowly squeeze a few drops from the syringe until a very thin pool is seen at the top. This will be your indicator that the absorbent material cannot retain any more liquid.

Important Note:

The needles are made for piercing skin and believe me if you aren’t careful they will. Since e liquid contains nicotine you don’t want to get pricked with the needle and pump it in your system. This could result in nicotine poisoning. So for added safety I suggest you file the tip of your needle down with a file and always use the cap when done. If you are accident prone, you should also know the e cig syringe doesn’t have to be the hypodermic needle used in hospitals. Printer cartridge refill syringes also work wonders.

Whatever you decide to use, you’ll find you’ll have better control with an e cig syringe. The liquid quantities are better regulated and wasteful spills are limited. Good luck!

E-Cig Taste

We’ve had a few people ask about flavors and the E-cig taste. With all honesty it’s not such an easy question to answer. Electronic cigarettes are produced by a number of companies worldwide and the taste of these e-cigs depend on a number of factors. If we want to just look at the liquid and the e-cig taste by just considering the that itself, then it could most likely be best described as sweet with a smooth. I personally find that it has a candy like flavor, it holds especially true for the menthol, cherry and coffee flavors.

The E-cig taste changes though. But you may be asking yourself how this is possible. If we use the same electronic cigarette juice in 3 different electronic cigarettes you’ll get a slightly different flavor. This is because the components mix with the e juice. Some electronic cigarettes have larger and more powerful atomizers. We’ve found that there are some e cigs that actually over heat the filter components at times. This is common as the juice gets lower. The end result can leave a metallic e-cig taste and even burned plastic.

That said, this isn’t always the case. A well constructed electronic cigarette will balance the taste and there are a few companies out there that are really good at doing this. If you purchased an electronic cigarette with a less than pleasant flavor you can take some basic steps to improve its e-cig taste. The best thing to do is to keep your filter topped up with juice. By topping it up with juice, you’ll be keeping everything running at relatively cool temperatures. When the liquid in the cartridge is considerably less or near empty the atomizer is able to produce even more heat. The more heat effects the e-cig taste and as mentioned above, leaves a metallic or even burned plastic taste lingering in your mouth.

Fake Electronic Cigarette…Really?

Last weekend I was out and about with a friend of mine, Jason. He smokes traditional cigarettes and I have my electronic cigarette. While puffing away at a bar with a beer some guy came up to me and said, “that’s a fake electronic cigarette…” I paused for a moment and thought about what he said. I wasn’t sure what his point was, but my e cig was anything from not real.  In fact, my “fake electronic cigarette” does what it’s supposed to do. It delivers nicotine, and produces smoke like vapor making me feel good and relaxed. So what was all this about?

I honestly still can’t tell you what was up with the comment. But judging from his body language and speech patters I could tell he wasn’t keen on my e cig. Not that it bothers me I was just left a little confused. So I smiled about it. Maybe he was just another loose cannon on the streets but it got me thinking about what these “fake electronic cigarettes” can really do. There’s so much more to them!

I’ve realized I managed to harness some serious social power since I got my e cig. What do I mean by this? Well, they are kind of like a puppy. I attract all kinds of attention with them and can even attribute a new friendship just this last weekend with a couple of bartenders.

I’ve also noticed my good friend Jason has always told me, “you know, you could really get some girls with those things.” And I honestly think he’s right, in fact I know he is because we even spoke to two girls about them recently. Unfortunately my battery was dead and was sitting in my car. But it’s true, like Jason says, they are great conversation starters.

I’m sure in the years to come, as the growing popularity of the electronic cigarette continues to expand its reach, it probably won’t have the same effect as it currently does. It’s already growing at quite an astonishing rate. But for it still makes me feel unique. When everybody and their grandmother start smoking them and the attention dwindles, I’ll think about getting a puppy.

So what constitutes a good batch of e liquid for electronic cigarettes? Is it the taste? The smoke density? The cost? Well, all the above without a doubt play a role in this e liquid review. But there’s more.

Grade A Crap E Liquid Now on Special!

I find myself picky about the flavor. Maybe more so than others. But I know others agree that some of these e liquid recipes are just not cutting it. An example is the Johnson Creek menthol flavor. In my opinion their batch just isn’t strong enough and tastes more like a candy syrup than a smokers menthol joy. It seems some of these e liquid manufacturers are just trying to crank out the flavors without putting in the labor. How’s that for a rhyme?

When analyzing the quality for my e liquid review, I look at more than a name. Vapor density is something I must have. There’s something satisfying about flowing out a thick cloud of vapor. The density is primarily controlled by the amount of water and propylene glycol (PG) in the liquid. If you’re tired of buying the stuff and want to make your own recipes you can experiment with the amount of PG and water ratios to intensify the smoke. I know I touched on this earlier, but the taste is also a factor in good e liquid. I’ve tried and reviewed quite a few in the past. Some people may say there’s not much of a difference but I beg to differ. Some of the juices I’ve tested have burned my throat and mouth like hell, while others descend smoothly.

I guess my point is not all these e liquid companies are the same despite common simplicity of the recipes. If you are really passionate about electronic cigarettes then I suggest you pull out the few extra dollars for some high quality e liquid. Alternatively, if you are super picky like me and none of these guys are cutting it for you (or providing you with that exotic guava and sugar cane flavor), research and find out how to make your own.  You’ll most likely have a e liquid review you can stick two thumbs up to!

Squirting E Juice

I’ve had my blu cig for about 2 months but today I was attacked with squirting e juice. It was a normal afternoon and I sat back and took a couple of drags from my e cig. It felt a little harder than usual to draw on and so I pulled on it with more force than what I usually do. Moments later my mouth filled with warm liquid and my tongue went numb! After washing my mouth out with water I returned to the culprit to find out what made my e cig spit.

With a brand new cartridge in place and all the components clean, I couldn’t figure out what happened. My only guess is that there was a pressure build up of some sort that developed while sucking on the end of the filter. So far I scoured the web for answers and nobody seems to know why this happens.

What does this mean? I can’t tell you how to fix it, at least right now but there are some simple approaches you can take  to fix your sore tongue and throat.

If you haven’t done so already. Remove the filter and drain any liquid resulting from overfilling. One of the best things you can do to cure the pain is to use a technique called oil pulling. Oil pulling is simple DIY practice that draws toxins from you mouth. It increases your bodily waste and increases the metabolism. The end result will give you a better cured mouth.

Remember, if you get this stuff in your mouth it’s important you rinse it out quickly with water. If you have a high nicotine content cartridge you could get sick from excessive nicotine consumption. From everything I’ve read, I’ve yet to hear of someone who got really sick from a bit of e juice but it’s better to always play it safe!

It’s been over a month that I’ve had my blu cigs starter kit and I’ve run into a small problem. The vapor decreases after about 40 drags. I couldn’t figure out if it was my atomizer or the actual cartridges that were giving me the issues but after a few experiments I think I cracked it.

How to Keep your Smoke Levels High

When you initially start noticing a decrease, you should ensure that your battery power isn’t the cause. This is the most common problem. If you’re sure it’s charged, check to make sure your atomizer is clean. If it’s dirty a couple of hours soaking in rubbing alcohol will get it cleaned up pretty good. You should also check the breather holes on the side of the atomizer. If the breather holes are clogged, use a toothpick or paperclip to clean the holes.

First step is to take the filter off the cigarette. Obviously you’ve been using it and it’s not producing good vapor. Using a paper clip, push the inner cartridge from the larger cartridge. Pictures of the guts and the inside of a filter can be found through the link. I suggest you take a look before going further. Remove all the foil from the top of the transparent cartridge. Push it back in a try smoking it again. You might have resolved the issue. If not, continue reading.

Another trick I found was by putting the atomizer nearer to the inner filter cartridge. Using the same technique as above, pop the inner filter from the cartridge. With it partially sticking out push the atomizer into the blu cigs inner filter and screw it to the battery. With the atomizer considerably closer, your smoke should be evaporating better, thus producing thicker smoke.

If that doesn’t work, don’t despair. It’s a little bit of a pain, but you’ll just have to keep topping the solution up. There have been a couple of times that I’ve run dry on liquid. I’ve had the other cartridges half full and been able to use the juice from them. Before you touch the juice cartridges, wear some latex gloves. If you’re dealing with nicotine solution, it’s poisonous. Skin absorbs nicotine like a sponge and if you get too much of it, well, it can make you quite sick.

With an “older” cartridge out of the filter, remove the sponge. A paperclip or toothpick can get this out pretty easily. Squeeze the sponge into the inner transparent cartridge you’re smoking. If you see it isn’t quite full, dump any solution that may still be in the cartridge you removed the sponge from. Close it all back up and you’re sure to have big vapor. Homemade E Juice Recipes Hit the Net

While browsing around, I hit a couple of sites that offer instructions on how to make your own E juice. That’s right, no more buying from others and picking flavors off the shelf. You can now make any flavor you want! And what’s even better? Well, because this is America, you’ll be making 2 gallons of this stuff. I’m serious, most of the recipes were for gallon jugs E Juice recipes. So you better really like the flavor you make!

What it Made of

Let me start by giving you a warning. If you are adding nicotine solution to your batch you will need to use extreme care. I suggest you wear latex gloves as nicotine is a poison and can make you very very sick. Possibly death in large amounts. So don’t let it get on your skin! Skin is like a sponge for nicotine, it gets absorbed through it.

So now that I’ve got you all paranoid, I’m sure you’re dying to make the batch.

Let’s first look at the ingredients. The base (not flavoring) is made up of water and vegetable glycerin (VG) or Propylene Glycol (PG). Flavorings and nicotine are the the rest.

1. To begin your e juice recipe make a trip to the store and buy some Propylene Glycol (PG) and make sure that it is FOOD GRADE. You can purchase this stuff at SAMs club or even online.
2. Buy some distilled water. Why not water from your faucet? Well, faucet water can contain some chemicals such as chlorine and in some cases calcium deposits. You don’t want to be inhaling chlorine as it’s pretty nasty stuff and the calcium deposits would potentially screw up your atomizer.
3. Flavoring – Arguably the best part of the process. Inventing tasty flavoring is quite enjoyable. Just remember that the flavorings cannot have any sugar in them. This again, screws up your atomizer.
4. The final thing you need is optional – Nicotine and herbs. Some people actually boil the tobacco and herbs and strain them for added flavoring and the buzz.

Now you have to measure all this stuff out. To do so requires a little math. Your e juice recipe will consist of the following:

For Zero Nicotine E Juice

• 70% propylene Glycol PG or the Vegetable Glycerin (VG)
• 15% distilled water
• 15% the flavor of you choice

For those of you that need the extra buzz you can put the nicotine in your mix. The measurements are as follows:

• 10% distilled water
• 10% flavoring of your choice
• 20% 24mg of commercial grade nicotine solution
• 60% propylene Glycol PG or the Vegetable Glycerin (VG)

It’s worth mentioning that you do have control over the amount of vapor density you wish to produce. You’d probably want to have a summer and winter batch. The reasons being is you may have noticed that with the increased temperature your vapor isn’t as visible as it is in the cold weather. The vapor density is controlled by the amount of water used in your solution. The best way to figure out what works best is to experiment around with it.

Again, if you’re going to make this please use caution on some of the more dangerous chemicals. If you’re in doubt as some of these pros for a solution or just leave it alone. Hope the article was helpful! Happy vapings!

My thirst for knowledge and curiosity got the better of me today as I decided to find out just what was in those funny e cig filters. I heard people describe it as wool, sponge and cotton. So just what was it? Wool? Sponge? Cotton? Only one way to find out! I grabbed the first tool that I thought would do the job. A paperclip. As I straightened it thoughts of science class and dissection flashbacks appeared. Don’t ask why, I’m confused by it too. I prodded the filter until I pushed the liquid container out.

IMPORTANT: It’s pointless saying don’t do this to people like me, so please  following this precaution if you want to see for yourself . Whether your filter contains nicotine or not you should be wearing gloves. My girlfriends pink rubber gloves for washing dishes worked like a charm. Nicotine is easily absorbed through the skin which is why smoking cessation products such as the nicotine patch is applied directly to the skin. The liquid can enter through your fingers and make you really sick. You’ve been warned.

Filter Container

In this picture to the left you’ll see the filter and the transparent container just after I popped it out the filter. Notice the liquid and absorbing material. The silver film on the top is what the atomizer on the electronic cigarette pierces when it’s inserted. The tip of the atomizer actually continues to stay in this transparent container and also serves as a cooling agent so the atomizer doesn’t burn out.

Once I had the container I used the paperclip the fish out the guts. This was the famous sponge, cotton and wool people has spoken about. I have to say on further inception it wasn’t the “sponge” I envisioned. It was a bundle of fibers that resembled really thin wool or loose cotton more than anything else.

With my curiosity satisfied I could go to bed happy not wondering what that “spongy” stuff everyone described was in those e cigarette filters. I have to say that I’m still mildly confused when it comes to classifying the material. But after sitting for 10 minutes on the last sentence of this blog, I think it’s safe to classify it as “loose cotton”.

This is a semi sad story and one that I’m sure has happened to others. I thought it was worth a blog.

Last week a friend of mine decided to purchase a starter kit from BluCigs. After sitting on his seat for the last few days it finally arrived. He ripped the box open faster than green grass through a goose, but took the time to read the instructions. The instructions were clear (step three states):

“Screw the atomizer into your battery.”
“Place a flavor cartridge on your atomizer firmly and twist slightly”

He did just that and pulled on the cartridge several times. The cigarette emitted a little smoke….then some more….then a good vapor cloud…..and finally it stopped. With a funny taste lingering in his mouth my friend picked up the phone and called me. ” This piece of &^%$ doesn’t work.” “BluCigs make good products, what seems to be the problem?” I replied. “I just told you, it doesn’t work!”

I could tell this wasn’t going to be resolved over the phone so I jumped in my car and headed to his house. Upon inspection I realized my buddy had purchased the White colored kit and tried smoking the “cap filter” resulting in the demise of the atomizer.

The caps are meant to protect the atomizer when not in use. They do not contain any liquid which also helps prevent overheating from the atomizer. Let’s look at the caps. When you get your kits from BluCigs, you’ll notice two of these caps in the cigarette recharging unit/carry pack. They are easily recognizable because the insides are hollow and they don’t contain any markings on the outside.

On the image to the left you’ll see the only difference between a menthol flavor filter and the cap is the letters “MM” which I circled in red. In fact on all BluCigs cartridges, you’ll find lettered abbreviations for all the flavors. It’s important you plug one of these into your e cig before you puff away! Doing so will prevent you from potentially destroying your atomizer and slapping your head for the mistake.

So what happened to my friend you may ask? Well, he got lucky as BluCigs delivers two atomizers with their starter kits. He loaded his letter coded filter into the e cig and began puffing on his new cig. He’s still mad he busted one of his atomizers but for now, the working atomizer is helping take care of his stress.
